How To Write a Memoir - The Writers For Hire

HOW TO WRITE A MEMOIR Have you read a memoir lately? Chances are good that you have, or at the very least you’ve noticed a few making a splash on the best seller lists. Everyone from political figures to pop stars and even ordinary everyday people seem to be writing one these days. Maybe you’ve considered writing one yourself. But what exactly is a memoir? Who would even read it anyway? And where would you start? Those are all good questions to ask. In fact, answering those questions is the very first step to writing a memoir. What Is a Memoir? A memoir is a type of non-fiction book, and it distinguishes itself from an autobiography in a couple of ways. An autobiography is the story of someone’s entire life up to that point, while a memoir is a collection of stories about a particular time or particular journey in a person’s life. It is not the life in its entirety. Memoirs are also less formal than many other types of non-fiction, and are told as a first person account. The â€Å"I† in a memoir is very big. The â€Å"I† is the heart of the story. Rather than highlighting facts and historical data, the way biographies do, the memoir revels in feelings and emotionshow the experiences affect the narrator. Additionally, the stories collected in a memoir all follow a specific theme. Whether the theme is a difficult childhood, the path to enlightenment, or the birth of a business, the memoir should be able to tie everything together through a common theme. Who Will Read It? Before beginning to write a memoir, you should genuinely consider who your audience will be—who are you writing for? Are you writing it just for yourself? Taking the time to write down our own memories of a particular time in our lives or a particular journey can be an extremely cathartic experience. While it is not a replacement for therapy, if that is needed, reliving our memories in our own words can help us to make sense of those things. Are you writing it for your spouse, children, or other family members? Genealogical data, fabled family stories, treasured memories, and sage advice from our loved ones can be a gift that will last for generations. Or are you writing it for mass consumption? In other words, are you wanting to have your book published? The reasons a stranger might want to read your book are vast, but most of those reasons can ultimately be divided into two categories: To feel connected to your story by reading about experiences they can personally identify with, or to have a better understanding of the human experience by reading about things they are completely unfamiliar with, as a way to walk in someone else’s shoes for a little while. Where To Start? Now that you know what a memoir is and answered the question of who will be reading yours, it’s time to begin the writing process. But where do you start? Choose a Theme. A good place is by choosing a theme. The theme answers the question what is the point? What is the overall story you are trying to tell? Are you telling an immigrant story, like ‘Tis by Frank McCourt? This sequel to his first book, Angela’s Ashes, picks up at his arrival in New York at the age of 19, and chronicles his first few years in a new country. Is your theme addiction and recovery, like Mary Karr’s powerful memoir Lit? Or is it a journey of faith, such as the one recounted in beautiful detail by Tara Westover in her book Educated? Maybe you have an unlikely business story like Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso, or you have tales from a trip like Jack Kerouac. Did you tackle a big project like Julie and Julia, one woman’s (Julie Powell) attempt to cook through Julia Child’s book Mastering the Art of French Cooking, or go on a journey of self-discovery like Eat, Pray, Love author, Sara Gilbert? All of these are examples of themes successfully used in recent memoirs. Gather your Stories. No matter what your theme is, once you’ve named it, you should keep it in mind when selecting your stories. Use old photographs and other physical mementos to help trigger your memory, then gather the stories that follow the arc of your theme. What lesson do you want the reader to walk away with after reading your book? Start with the before picture in mind. What did you, your life, the project look like at the beginning? Choose stories that show what it was like, how you thought, what you believed, and the events that shaped that belief system. Then move through the process. What was the point where things (or you) started to change? What event triggered the change? Was there a crisis or epiphany moment? Did your thoughts or beliefs begin to transform? Select stories that show what you learned through the experience, which experiences taught you those lessons, and ones that convey your overall message. End with the after picture in mind. What do you, your life, the project look like now? Have you or the project changed in some ways? What ways? Be specific. You may also want to gather a few stories from other people. Do you have friends or family who could offer a different perspective or fill in some gaps? Family members can often be a valuable resource in remembering names, dates, and other facts, but they may also have stories about events that are relevant to yours, even if you were not personally present. You may even want to interview other people who have had experiences similar to yours. If you are writing a stunt memoir about restoring an old bus, turning it into a tiny house on wheels, and living in it for a year, you could interview a few others who have done that too. These outside stories add a layer of authenticity to your book and can be included in a number of different ways. They can be incorporated into your own narrative as knowledge or information you now possess, or you can choose to quote the third party in their own voice, separating it both visually and narratively from the main sections of the book. Both options add elements of interest and outside information that helps round out your story. Write an Outline. The first step to writing an outline is deciding how you want to tell your story. Do you want to start at the beginning, and move chronologically forward in time until you reach the conclusion? Do you want to start in present time and move backward to the beginning? Do you want to begin somewhere in the middle with a significant event, flash back to the beginning, then work your way forward. All of these are good choices, it just depends on the stories you have to tell and how you want the arc of your story to move. All preliminary outlines should include: 1.An introduction – this is the hook, the thing that makes a reader want to read more. 2. Chapters – your stories divided in a logical manner, flowing through the *narrative arc. 3. Conclusion – a recap of your transition/movement through the theme to where you are now. *What is a narrative arc? This term refers to a basic, generally satisfying (to the reader) way to tell a story. It is sometimes simply called a narrative, and contains the following elements, typically in this order: Narratives begin with characters and setting. All good stories start by laying out who is who and where the action is taking place. This is sometimes called, especially in memoirs, a time of innocence. This the â€Å"before picture† we talked about earlier.The next necessary element is the crisis. This is when the character is called to change. It can happen through an event, an epiphany, or something else that happens to shatter the time of innocence and force the character to change in some way.Next is a series of events writers refer to as the Rising Action. This is the journey the narrator takes after the crisis. This is where you include the stories of remodeling the bus, starting the business, going to therapy or rehab, or cooking through the entire cookbook. This is the time when lessons are learned. Then comes the climax, or the moment of greatest tension in the book. Something significant happens and it calls on the narrator to use all of the lessons they have learned during the rising action to fix a major problem. This is when the business you’ve been building is on the verge of bankruptcy or in desperate need of venture capitalist funding, or when the bus you’ve worked on for 6 months breaks down on the side of the road leaving you stranded, or when the soufflà © you’ve practiced so meticulously falls thirty minutes before your new boss shows up for dinner.Next is the falling action, where you show the reader how you fix the problem. This is when you not only remember the lessons you’ve learned, but you actually begin to apply them. We see you, problem by problem, sorting it all out. We see you changing the tires on the bus, taking a personal pay cut or figuring out how to reduce expenses so that the business stays afloat, assessing the soufflà ©, deciding to throw it out and start all over (or just order in). And finally, the resolution. This is where the narrator/main character is shown to have grown, matured, or changed in some way. We see the after picture. Ready to Write. Now that you understand the style and tone of a memoir, have decided on a theme, chosen your stories, interviewed others whose stories may be relevant to your book, gathered all of the pertinent data, considered your narrative arc and written an outline, it’s time to write your memoir. Even at this stage of the process, you still have choices. Write your memoir yourself. If you choose this route, remember to: Be vulnerable and authentic. This is your story, even though someone else may remember some details differently, ultimately this is a collection of your memories.Be yourself. Write like yourself. Talk like yourself. Your memoir should sound like you.Be entertaining. Tell the stories you would want to read in a way you would want to read them. Use intrigue to increase interest. Do not give the whole story away right up front, let the reader figure things out as they read along. Bonus Writer’s Tip Show don’t tell. A simple example of the difference between showing and telling is the following sentence, â€Å"A very tall man walked into the room and sat down.† This sentence tells the reader the man was tall and that he walked into the room. One way to show those things, rather than tell them, would be to write the sentence â€Å"The man had to duck underneath the doorway as he came into the room. Once inside, he looked around for the largest chair before taking a seat.† Write your memoir with the help of an editor or proofreader. Many people feel like they are the best qualified person to write their own story, even if not a professionally trained writer. They also feel they could use a little outside help. Even professionally trained writers use editors and proofreaders because even the best writers make simple mistakes. The work always benefits from an extra pair of eyes. Your proofreader could be your spouse, a close friend, or a hired professional. Freelance editors and proofreaders often list their services on web-based freelance sites, but make sure you go through a reputable site, and check their references. Write it with the help of a Ghostwriter. You may decide, after thinking through the sheer size and scope of the project, that it would be too time consuming. Or maybe you feel like writing just is not your forte. In this case, your best option might be to hire a ghost writer. A ghostwriter will work closely with you at every stage of the process. While other war poems composed by Swanson, such as Base Details and Wirers, which were written from the point of view of a soldier during war, Swanson sets the readers of Aftermath as post-war civilians, and uses many dark images of the battlefield to emphasize the Importance of no forgetting what has happened in the past. From the very beginning of the poem, Swanson demands for the readers attention with the rhetorical question: Have you forgotten yet? Which is italicized with the first rod written in capital letters, which puts even more emphasis on the question. The ellipsis that follows leads to a pause or a caesura that forces the readers to stop and contemplate about what the speaker had Just said. The first stanza is mainly focused on the minds of the soldiers at present (post- war). Swanson uses a simile to compare post-war life to the traffic on city roads. Traffic checked while at the crossing of city-ways (line 3), which shows that the days have passed busily and repetitively with no big excitement, similar to the cars passing on the busy streets. However, the war has obviously left Its Imprint on the soldiers mentality, as there Is a haunted gap (line 4) In the soldiers mind, a void that he will have to fill with fluffy light thoughts in order to avoid the painful memories of the past. The capitalization of Time (line 6) emphasizes the time wasted on war which accomplished nothing but destroyed the innocence of youth and countless lives. In reality, the soldiers who have survived the war have to now spend more time to fill their minds with things irrelevant in order to recover the traumatizing experience in war. This contrasts with the fact that the soldiers now eave time and Joy to spare (line 6) whereas the dead soldiers did not. Swanson describes the war as a bloody game (line 7), a Juxtaposition that shows how the soldiers were being used as pawns, sacrificing their lives all for a game. In the last line of the first stanza, Swanson commands the readers to look down (line 9), to show the remembrance and respect associated with the action of looking down and swear to never forget what happened in the past. Images in the second stanza illustrate experiences in the chaotic war zone. Swanson uses the repetition of the word remember, which contrasts with the word forgotten used in the rhetorical questions, to remind the soldiers of the constant struggles and bad conditions of the battlefield. The conjunction word and is used consecutively to show the monotonous and endless exhaustion of the continuous warfare. The unpleasant imagery of rats and hopeless rain (line 14) serve as a strong reminder for the readers to remember the past, as the speaker fears that if the lesson from the past Is not learned, history will soon repeat itself. The third stanza brings In the idea of the unknown chaos of war, where each solider lives by the moment, since each moment could be their last. Swanson brings the soldiers back to the past by the Imagery of the doomed and haggard faces (line 18) of their comrades. He is asking us as the readers to imagine the strong emotions AT anger Ana compassion Tanat ten soldiers nave Tell at Tanat moment, Ana to never forget it so it will not happen again. Swanson also shows what the war has taken away from the young men as he contrasts the lads who were once keen and kind and gay (line 21) to the dying men with dying eyes and lolling heads and ashen-grey masks (line 20-21). This not only demonstrates the gory and graphic part of the war, UT also represent the lost of individuality of the soldiers, as each of them have the same mask of death. Swanson ends the poem with the command of look up (line 23), which is the opposite of the look down in line 9. The action of looking up symbolize the motion of moving forwards, as the speaker hopes that people will remember the past mistakes and move on with life with a brighter future (as indicated by the green of spring in line 23). Throughout the poem, Swanson address to the readers as you, which establishes a personal connection between the readers and the speakers, as Swanson is speaking erectly to them. The readers are able to take a part in this poem, as the speaker asks many questions that start with do you remember? , which involves the readers in Seasons past memories. This makes the images much more realistic for the readers as they can image themselves going through the same thing as the speaker. The repetition of the rhetorical questions throughout the poem sends a strong message to the readers. By asking Have you forgotten yet? , Swanson emphasized the need for everyone to remember the most difficult times, so that the sacrifices of the soldiers lives will not be wasted.

Comparison of planned and free market economies Compare and contrast a planned economy with a free market economy. Discuss why in reality most economies are mixed economies. SYSTEM OF THE FREE MARKET ECONOMY The background of this economy is private ownership and individual economic freedom, i.e. the market of this economy operates only on the demand and offer basis, when buyers and sellers by themselves decide what and how to manufacture (Corsi, C. et al., 1997). This the main point of this system. Therefore this system is referred to as the system of the market-driven economy. According to Schotter, A. (1990), In the countries of free market economy, thousands of markets are available, these markets are interconnected by millions of interfaces. Under the conditions of such a complex economy, processes are appropriately controlled and regulated by prices. Changes in market conditions are reflected by changes in prices as the prices inform and encourage the market players to change their behavior (Cobin, M., 2009). In this way, they introduce an order in a chaos. One should not forget that, besides relationship between sellers and buyers and the price arising as the result of this relationship, there are several other market-driven economy elements. One of these elements is private ownership. According to Gianari, N. (1995), Private ownership is the ownership which is disposed by individual personalities and private companies; this is the prime right of the free business system which procures entities with freedom to own and use the products which have a value and to dispose them. Here we have in mind the right of people and business undertakings to be the owners of means of production. Though market elements are available both in custom and command economy, in these economies, fixed production assets (companies, undertakings, agricultural undertakings, mines, and etc.) are owned by communities, which means that they are considered as all peoples ownership (Greaves, B. 2005). The owners of these assets are the groups of people or governments. In the market-driven economy, means of production are owned by private entities ownership is private, whereas resources are distributed by the market in accordance with the laws of demand and offer. Under the conditions of this economic system, each individual may be engaged in any activity he desires provided that he has assets and that demand is available. However, individuals may be forced to terminate their activities if they are short of money. There is a lot of competing with each other entities in the community of capitalism; these entities compete to receive profit, whereas the price level should secure sufficient profit (Przeworski, A., 2001). Private ownership encourages people to use their ownership so that it would bring profit. Profit receiving aspiration encourages businessmen to manufacture products which are on demand and to sell them at the price acceptable to buyers. The profit motive encourages businessmen to manufacture products under cost-effective conditions so that businessmen would be able (Kearns, P., 2007): To increase profit, which means to increase the difference between production costs and the sale price; To sell products at a price lower than the price of competitors. Rao, P. (1998) noticed, that choosing specific products or services in the market, the consumers makes the manufacturers to decide which products are to be manufactured in larger quantities and which in smaller quantities, which products will be on demand and which products will not be on demand. Manufactures which correctly interpret the choices of buyers and which supply products necessary to buyers may have profit. Those manufacturers who do take into accounts these factors manufacture too large quantities or too small quantities or set too high or too low price and therefore do not have profit. The latter often have losses. In the market-driven economy, the votes of consumers may determine the existence or bankruptcy of business. SYSTEM OF THE PLANNED ECONOMY Under the conditions of the planned economy, all decisions concerning what to manufacture, how to manufacture and to whom to manufacture are approved by the sole centre or group (Smith, A., 1983). This economy is based on collective ownership. Fixed production assets are owned by the government, and resources, production and the quantities of future products are distributed according to a plan. The type of the system of the command economy was prevailing in the USSR, Cuba, and North Korea. According to Jozef M. van Brabant (1991), the plans of the system of the centralized economy are drawn up and implemented by the authorities and governmental political leaders after consulting with highly ranked professionals: engineers, economists, industrialists, and other experts. These planners decide which products to manufacture and which services to render. Their vote is decisive in approving decisions whether new undertakings are to be constructed, how many employees are to be employed at u ndertakings, whether modern equipment and advanced technology is to be applied at undertakings. The same planners, on the request of the political authorities of the country, decide who will consume the products manufactured and services, establish the amount of remuneration for everybody as well as the profit and interest rates. When trying to process all information which is necessary to coordinate the activities of a large number of entities in the sole centre, unsolvable problems arise in the system of the command economy. Therefore, in the former USSR and in the closely related Warsaw Treaty countries: Eastern Germany, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Rumania and Hungary, a large number of market elements was available along with the command management (Bosworth, B. (1995). Quite large differences between socialistic countries depended on the portion of assets owned by governments and the rigidity of planning of usage of resources. If the number of products which are on demand amongst people who want to buy them does not coincide with the number of the products offered, the problem of mechanisms which would be capable of forming the equilibrium arises (McEachern, W., 2008). In the country of the market-driven economy, an individual manufacturer who wants to receive optimal profit regularly by itself tries to modify the quantity, quality and price of the products manufactured. It turned out that the system of the planned economy was hardly capable of being flexible and susceptible to changes. Virtually, it is impossible to change official prices. In addition to this, it turned out that it is very difficult to change the offer planned between the undertakings themselves as well as between companies and consumers. At long last, the desire to obtain acceptable quality at an acceptable price was seldom satisfied. Thus, here, the market incentive is replaced by the commands of authorities. Therefore, here, it is difficult to change the price of products, to satisfy the needs of consumers to develop the growth of the economy at a fast pace. According to McEachern, W. (2008), this was caused not only by the problems arisen in the cause of attempts to process such a large amount of information necessary to balance all the branches of economy in the centralized way but also for the reason that the deficit of products often satisfied the economic interests of a large number of distributers better than trade in the balanced market. SYSTEM OF THE MIXED ECONOMY One hardly may find the pure system or the system of the free market market-driven economy in the modern world. Though it is declared that the major economic decisions in the country are dictated by the market, the role of the government in the procedure of adopting these decisions is increasing (Ikeda, S., 1996). For example, 50 years ago the USA government acquired 15 per cent of the total number of products manufactured and the services rendered in America, whereas for the being time this figure already amounts to 20 per cent. Due to this combination of market forces and participation of the government, the economy of America and a large number of other democratic countries is referred to as the mixed economy. The economy of countries which were included in the composition of the former USSR and which were under the influence of the former USSR now also is referred to as mixed one (Ikeda, S., 1996).. The economy of countries of the modern world constitutes the combination of market-driven and governmental economies. Baumol, W. and Blinder, A. (2008) think that, in such countries as USA, the UK, France, Germany, Japan, and many other countries, the mixed capitalistic system is applicable. Thus, in the mixed economy, economic freedom prevails. However, some decisions are adopted by groups, very often by governments. Conclusion COMPARISON OF ECONOMIC SYSTEMS According to Baumol, W. and Blinder, A. (2008), difference between the free market (capitalistic) system and the command economic system is mostly manifested by the role of the government and the model of ownership to the means of production. In the market-driven economy, production exists for the benefit of an individual, whereas, in the planned economy, an individual exists for the benefit of production. As we know, under the conditions of the command economy, companies, agriculture, shops, and other production resources were owned by the government and major economic problems were solved by the governmental planning authorities. Thus, in the countries of centralized planning, the key role is performed by the government. The situation is radically different under the market-driven conditions: these problems are solved by buyers and sellers and the fixed production assets are owned by the right of ownership. In this economic model, the government performs a conditionally small role. The combination of the market-driven (capitalistic) economy and the command economy is the mixed economy (Baumol, W. and Blinder, A., (2008). Both the theory of economics and world experience proved that the most effective is such a mixed economic system in which market relationship elements rather than command relationship elements prevail as both the USSR and other countries of the command economy regularly experienced the deficit of some or another products and did not cope with too slow increase in the efficiency of agriculture and other business activities. Though the mixed economy is more efficient if market relationship elements prevail, the latter elements also have some drawbacks.

Charlotte Perkin Gilman: A life of slient suffering :: Biography

Charlotte Perkins Gilman, born in 1860, was a radical feminist in a time when women kept house and raised children. She attributed to the development of a â€Å"kitchen-less home, socialization of housekeeping and child care† (SOURCE 2) although she also married and had a child. Ultimately her radical goals and domestic house life lead to her psychotic downfall. Gilman’s dread of domestic life began in childhood when her neglectful father abandoned the family, Charlotte, her mother and brother. Her mother responded by denying affection, fearing â€Å"that it would weaken her daughter's character and give her an inflated sense of security† (SOURCE 2). Gilman fought to become educated and was able to build a life and support herself as a single woman. Filled with shame and fear from her parents’ divorce Gilman was weary to accept the multiple proposals of suitor Charles Walter Stetson, eventually agreeing in 1885 after her closest friend became married (SOURCE 2). The union was described as unsatisfying and a great factor in Gilman’s breakdown (SOURCE 1). They had their first and only child in 1886, which was the turning point in Gilman’s mental health. The pregnancy was filled with illness and emotional instability; she was put on bed rest which left her unstable and â€Å"depressed by domesticity and ambition† (SOURCE 2). Gilman returned home determined she was well again but within a month was returning to her previous state (SOURCE 2). Writing in her diary â€Å"I am very sick with nervous prostration and I think some brain disease as well† (SOURCE 2) at this point she began getting treatment from S. Weir Mitchell a nerve specialist. She underwent the Rest Cure Treatment and â€Å"for six weeks, Charlotte had complete bed rest, daily massages, plentiful food, and no access to books or friends. A Discussion on the Thoughts and Philosophies of Pericles

IntroductionIt is innate among humans to be fascinated by the different things that they particularly see around them (Durant, 1986, 10). It could not be denied then that through the years, this particular fascination within the different elements that could be seen in the human environment actually developed into the many discoveries and inventions that humans produced (Sternberg, 1989, 31). Through passing civilization of humans, it could be observed that the people were never contented with what they already have or what they have already accomplished. This is especially true in terms of science and technology as well as in arts and literature (Ambuel, 2006, 15). It is indeed undeniable that people recreate the things that are already existent within their own society.   The fact that they have already been able to see what they could do regarding a certain type of field (Cooper, 1997, 18), they intend to even do better the net time that they deal with the same invention. Yes, h umans never get tired of reinventing everything there is in the environment. Why is this so?Human intelligence has always been noted by philosophers as the primary factor that makes the human creation different from that of the other God-made creations. The humans’ ability to innovate their own achievements to even better results for the present generation to see, has particularly noted them to be those who are capable of reinventing themselves to be able to evolve from generations to generations. It is overwhelming enough to see that the society today is already flooded by the many informations that are presented to humans through the printed pages of literature. As a result, more and more people joined the bandwagon of writing and began to share their thoughts to the world with regards the issues that primarily concern the human society today. (Bakalis, 2005, 17)This particular progress in literature has primarily been further fueled by the democratic arrangement of the major governments around the world, giving a chance for the freedom of human expression. It is through this that people became more aware of the world around them , they cared more than ever with the political agendas, the social issues as well as other informations that concern their interests (Cooper, 2005, 16). True, the changing situation in the society and the demand towards progress requires that human intelligence be perfected in a way that it particularly caters to the needs of the entire humanity. The human brain’s ability to store and restructure informations that were accepted by it through the years of an individual’s life is particularly a proof that the application of humans’ intelligence could still be perfected as generations are still to come along. (Allen, 2006, 18)In the same idea, both the philosophers Plato and Pericles believed that humans are indeed capable of being highly involved with developments as they are certainly given the idealism of becoming the best at anything. They use their instinct accompanied by their need of fulfilling what they particularly opt to find out about life as a satisfact ion to their curious minds (Sternberg, 1989, 14). Although both philosophers believed in this particular through, they did have different approaches in presenting the truth about their claims (Cooper, 1997, 13). To understand the issue better, the thoughts and philosophies of both Pericles and Plato shall be discussed within the paragraphs that follow in two separate presentations.The Thoughts of PlatoPlato has been widely known in the human history of philosophy as the establisher of the western culture. His succession on the position left by Aristotle and Socrates has noted him to be among the most intelligent people who have lived in human history (Corlett, 1997, 25). His special skills in literature and the mind boggling explanation of human philosophy has particularly allowed him to become one of the most sought after philosophers of the world. As a philosopher, Plato has been known for his ability to validate his claims through mathematical pattern of assumptions as he present his ideas through his writings (Corlett, 2005, 27). The possibilities and the calculation of how the human mind reacts to certain situations has been noted to be among the best expertise of Plato himself.As one of the foundations of human philosophy, Plato contributed so much on the knowledge of people at present. Plato has been known for the presentation of his thoughts through the use of dialogues. The conversations between people have been utilized by Plato as a way by which he could convey his ideas to the people. Among the answers he usually opt to discuss is that of the ways by which the values that the father implies on the son contribute to the personal growth and being of that particular individual. Most likely, Plato has long been trying to identify how the elements of fatherhood actually influence the acceptance of different individuals of the teachings, thus applying them as values for themselves to learn from and later on apply in their own systems of living.The second issue presented is on the realism of the human population. This particularly points out to the ability of humans to use their reasoning and their intelligent judgment of the things that they hear, they see, and they observe, thus defining on which one is actually true and which one is on the o ther hand imaginary. True, people have this particular ability of knowing what is real from what is not. However, the reasoning behind such ability is somewhat complex, and this is what actually moved Plato to identify the factors that affect the human judgment on such elemental factors in the human society.The third topic of attention is that of the imaginative abilities of humans. True, humans enjoy the fact that they are able to imagine different things as a part of their intellectual capabilities. When feeling down and depressed, people usually use their capabilities of imagining things to at least ease them from the truths of their present situation. However, although many consider imagination as gift, it could not be denied that the human ability of coming back to reality could still help them set their decision on which one is the real situation differentiating it from the imaginary elements that they themselves have created in their minds.(Ambuel,2006, 15)Through these thoug hts, Plato also tried to imply on his writing the idea on the â€Å"real world†, whereas he refers to the present system of things to be just a shadow of the real world, referring to the people at present as those who are living in an imaginary world. True, this thought might seem quite confusing at some point. However, if closely observed, it could not be denied that the situation is quite obvious. It all boils down to the reality of the people. Because of the fact that humans are less able to become realistic with who they are, they are then consequently living their lives in an unrealistic world that makes it even harder for themselves to â€Å"zap† back into the real life that they ought to face. This is in correspondence to the doubts of humans as to why they are at times in trouble of finding what they really want out of living on earth.The Thoughts of PericlesPericles has been known to be among the list of the most successful ancient politicians of the human his tory. This is most likely because of the skill that he himself has faced during his rule in Athens. Even when he was still on his way in being inspired in becoming an icon of the public, he knew that the responsibility that he was about to take was not that easy to fulfill (Corlett, 2005, 48). This is when he was actually able to take into consideration the understanding that he must gain with regards the philosophical make up of humankind. Moreover, the said thought has been mainly established by the philosopher through explaining his claims using the different dimensions of math and human philosophy. Constantly referring to the ability of the mind to imagine and to bring its thought back to reality has noted Plato as one of the most remarkable philosophers who were able to unlock the truth behind human imagination. On the other hand, Pericles has been mostly focused on the ability of humans to disperse their thoughts and actually affect the society that they are living in. It is through their freedom of speaking their thoughts off to the public that they are able to make the necessary changes that they ought to contribute to their communities.Certainly, if observed closely, Percles’ and Plato’s belief on the capabilities of humans to use their capabilities well explains how the human intelligence is actually used in the systems by which the human civilization progresses towards modernity. North made his goal of raising $20,000 in three and a half hours, made six times his goal in a   week, and now the project has accrued $580,905. And then we make fun of you for dying on the first page, but you can become a ghost and must INVESTIGATE YOUR OWN MURDER that you TOTALLY SLEPT THROUGH because you got SLEEPY IN AN ORCHARD.
